Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with the benefits of community service. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. In football, he was with his three brothers for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week of volunteer time in college. After graduating Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 youngsters of the United States. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
