Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish descent as is her mother. Her father of a family that hails from Mexico she is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. One brother, Vincent, and one sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter made her public television debut on Lew King's Talent Show at age 5. In high school, Carter performed in a band named Just Us. The group performed marimba, conga drum and an acoustic guitar as well as a stand-up bass that was played by a different girl in the group. Lynda began singing in a pizza shop at the age of 15. 8. When she turned 16 years old, she joined her cousins in another band called The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer for The band. The band was first formed at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen since she was younger than 21. After being recognized as "Most Talented" Carter made the decision to quit school in pursuit of music as a profession. Carter attended an audition in the year 1970, and did a tour with The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance with each other was held at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel so new that it did not have a sidewalk entryway. Hotel staff and hotel guests had their cars parked in the underground parking garage , meaning that they performed for the hotel's guests. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit", including in several casinos in Nevada. Carter made the decision to leave the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting. She then returned to Arizona.
